Join me for 5 unforgettable nights on an action-packed Botswana photo safari in Mashatu Game Reserve, a place where predators prowl, elephants roam, and your camera rarely gets a break.

Our main photographic focus will be the area’s intense predator activity, the lion, leopard, and cheetah action here is honestly off the charts. We’ll have two dedicated sessions in a sunken wildlife hide for up-close, eye-level encounters that few places can offer. And for something truly special, we’ll spend a night in an underground overnight hide where you can photograph wildlife from bed (yes, really) and drift off to sleep with the sounds of the African bush all around you.

Your Private Photographic Guide

I'll be your dedicated photographic guide for the entire trip. With over 8 years of experience working in the safari industry across Africa, including Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and even Antarctica — I use my deep understanding of animal behaviour, light, and composition to get you into the right place at the right time for the best possible shots. I also offer editing tutorials during the safari too.

Whether it’s positioning for backlit elephants at sunrise, or anticipating a leopard’s next move, I’ll be there to help you nail the shot and grow your skills.

Known as The Land of Giants, Mashatu is famous for its abundant elephant sightings, alongside an impressive range of other species including eland, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and kudu

Birders and bird photographers will also be in their element here with over 360 species recorded, Mashatu is one of the best all-round photographic destinations I’ve ever worked in. The hit rate is insane, with birds, predators, and large mammals all showing up to put on a show.

This trip is perfect for photographers of all levels, and even non-photographers will walk away with an experience they’ll never forget.

There’s rarely a dull moment in Mashatu so let’s go create something special.

The Photography Hides

The sunken photographic hides are a highlight of the trip.

We’ll spend one sunrise and one sunset session in a sunken hide, getting incredible eye-level shots as the animals come to drink. This experience really is incredible and it allows everyone to get very low angle shots.

These two sessions are included in the price of the safari.

Optional Add-On: Lala Limpopo Night Hide Experience

In 2026, guests have the opportunity to book a night in the Lala Limpopo hide, a purpose-built photography hide overlooking a waterhole.

We’ll enter the hide before sunset to capture golden hour magic, stay through the night to photograph any nocturnal visitors, and then shoot the soft morning light at sunrise before heading back to camp.

No need to rough it — the hide is fully equipped with beds, bathrooms, and even a small kitchen to keep you comfortable throughout the night.

Cost: $400 per person
Group size: Minimum of 3 guests

Mashatu Tent Camp

Mashatu Tent Camp offers an intimate, back‑to‑nature safari experience. Tucked beneath towering trees, the camp has just eight spacious, raised tents, each with its own outdoor ensuite (think star‑lit showers, flush loo, and private veranda)

The heart of camp is a vibrant communal area and cosy boma beside a floodlit waterhole, where casual dining and wildlife viewing go hand in hand . You can also dip into the small plunge pool between game drives, or unwind in the hide overlooking wildlife hotspots.

In short, Mashatu Tent Camp is perfect for those craving authentic bush immersion without skimping on comfort or photographic opportunity.

What my past guests have to say

“Just completed a 5 day trip to Mashatu with Andrew. Amazing predator photo opportunities and a well organised trip. Thanks Andrew for a great experience" - John Mellor

“Having done many safaris before, the difference with Andrew was not only his understanding of animals, behaviour and general knowledge of wildlife, but also his understanding of light.

Every sighting was aimed at optimising the light available to us all to shoot with. That allowed me to capture the best shots I've taken to date on Safari. Something you never get with a non photographic safari.

Andrew is totally approachable both online and in person. Even on safari he was open to all ideas, what we wanted to achieve and capture and generally about wildlife and stories around his experiences of southern Africa. Well worth the trip and I'd like to do another one someday with him.” - Navjit Bhamra
